Abstract
When Dr. John Hammond cloned a purple dinosaur using DNA found in a fossilized tick in 1988, no one expected the world of children’s entertainment to change forever. Pretendosaurus barneyi is one of the most fascinating species in the world. Despite being an innocent fluffy blob—or at least assumed to be at first; scientists soon realized that evolving to be fluffy must have a purpose. This leads to the following study where 100 children were divided into four groups. Each group was provided four unique stimuli: an empty room, a fork, an educational documentary, and an episode of Barney and Friends. Fascinatingly, the Barney episode stimuli produced the highest level of dopamine on a scale of 250 points with decimals to the nearest tenth—each child was asked to rate their enjoyment from 1-10. This suggests the possible use of children in order to metabolize; the method by which this is executed is still unknown. Alongside this, an analysis of the anomalous properties of Pretendosaurus barneyi was performed. In which, more questions were raised than answered. Due to the scale of this study, the implications for Lebron’s legacy are quite serious, yet he remains the GOAT.

1. Introduction
1.1 Introduction
Narrowly beaten by the Sopranos and Boy Meets World, Barney and Friends was one of the most influential televised series of the ’90s; however, one thing has always remained of concern to both parents and researchers analyzing the content: Who is Barney? This is a question that has confounded researchers for over thirty years [16]. Many analysts have tried to explain the ontology of the purple reptile, and so many more have died trying. “Barney the Dinosaur”—if we can even call it that—utilizes anomalous physiological powers, timeline manipulation, Communist ideals, and government-supported manipulative propaganda, all in order to get closer to children and possibly use their dopamine as a type of energy source (The Bible, English Standard Version). Despite this being a blatant catastrophe for the entire world order, one question remains certain on top of all else: What are the implications for LeBron’s legacy?
1.2 Background
The televised series Barney and Friends first aired in 1992 [5]. Throughout the series, children perform activities with a giant purple reptilian creature known as “Barney”—now classified as Pretendosaurus barneyi. During this time, the hypothesized origin of this anomalous creature was an actor; however, current scientific consensus seems to indicate that it is a divergent member of the hominid family [16]. The show successfully aired for 18 years, providing entertainment and baffling scientists throughout the world. Unfortunately, in 2010, an ergonomic chair collapsed and resulted in a fatal accident. As a result, PBS made the decision to halt production of future episodes (“Barney (franchise)”). After the show’s cancellation, Barneys can be observed sporadically while near malls and children. Many scientists have attempted to communicate with Barney, but with minimal success.
2. Current Status of Research (Literature Review)
2.1 The Jihad Against Barney
One of the most influential works in Barney analysis is The Jihad to Destroy Barney [3]. Written in 2006, the text outlines foundational information about the threat that Barneys poses. However, the text is mostly conspiratorial rather than fact-based, invalidating its academic authenticity. This is demonstrated clearly in the first few lines of the introduction: “What if I were to tell you that our world is under attack from a demon lord and his allies, a race of extraterrestrial sorcerers?” [3]. This statement is highly illogical; Breen et al. failed to provide any empirical backing to indicate the existence of “extraterrestrial sorcerers.” Along with this, they completely disregard academic due diligence by ignoring real damages, injuries, and deaths. This book played a major role in bringing attention to this topic, but the factuality of the text is highly debatable.
2.2 The Current Classification of Barney
In 1995, researchers—mainly concentrated at the Academy of Natural Sciences, Philadelphia—wrote “The Taxonomy of Barney” Their work advanced the field by arguing that Barney is, in fact, a divergent hominoid creature, and more interestingly, that Barney was more genetically similar to a salmon than a dinosaur: “We were very surprised to find that the tree comparing Barney to a dead salmon was more parsimonious even than the tree which grouped Barney with the dinosaurs.” Alongside this discovery, they also coined the term Pretendosaurus barneyi which has become the official term used by researchers when referring to Barneys as a whole (Milius). Theriot and his team also laid the foundation for future research, as they were successfully able to perform an X-ray scan [16]. Additionally, the text, unlike The Jihad Against Barney, is strictly empirical and properly cited.
3. Experimentation
3.1 Research and Methodology
In order to better understand Pretendosaurus barneyi, it is important to figure out what Barneys consume. As such, an experiment was conducted to test whether a Barney’s feeding habits have a correlation with children. One hundred children ranging from 4–6 years of age were divided into groups of 25. Group A sat in a quiet room for an hour; Group B sat in a room with a plastic fork for an hour; Group C watched an hour-long documentary about hemoglobin; and Group D watched an hour of Barney content. At the end of the experiment, the children were asked whether they enjoyed the experience from a scale of 1-10, totaling 250 points and including decimals up to the nearest tenth. The goal of this experiment is to better understand whether Barney’s natural charisma is related to his hypothesized method of metabolization. The question to answer is: Does Pretendosaurus barneyi make content that specifically targets children?
3.2 Psychological Analysis of the Children
The results of the experiment are quite fascinating; two assertions can be made based on the data below. First, Group C did worse than Group B and A (see fig. 1), and second, Group D produced the highest observed dopamine release, around 65%. In total, the Barney episodes completely outperformed the second highest dopamine-releasing group—Group B—by an interval of 47%. This demonstrates that Barneys are quite efficient at captivating children. Currently, the hypothesis stands that Barneys use child released dopamine as a source of energy and the data demonstrate this clearly: the content was able to maintain stable levels of dopamine throughout the one-hour period. However, due to a lack of funding, further research into exactly how Pretendosaurus barneyi is able to extract this dopamine is not possible in this paper.

4. Analysis of the Anomalous Properties
4.1 His Power
Barneys don’t just use psychological manipulation; they also use certain anomalous characteristics in order to confuse analysts while simultaneously appealing to its younger target audience. These powers include but are not limited to: the ability to manifest via an intersubjective reality, control of sensory perception, manifestation to only whom it wills, interdimensional travel, and immortality [12: Timestamps 00:11:05, 00:12:52, 00:15:25, 00:19:53, 00:24:18]. Observing Barneys while they’re displaying these anomalous characteristics is extremely difficult, largely because currently mathematicians believe Barneys may have divine origins [2]. This makes research extraordinarily difficult without falling into natural human bias and speculative thinking to prove the researcher’s own religious beliefs to be true.
4.2 Timeline Anomalies
Alongside the indicated physical/metaphysical anomalies, Barneys have also reportedly shown clear indications that they possess the ability to manipulate time as a whole. This is demonstrated by the fact they have reportedly been able to travel through time, change the seasons, change the time of day, and manipulate the time of people’s birthdays [17 Timestamps: 00:47:10]. This is significant considering he’s been shown to possess possible pocket dimensions. There may be a connection with using external dimensions in order to access a plane beyond the space-time continuum [12 Timestamps: 00:19:53].
4.3 Communist Ideals
One of the most significant developments in the research of Barney is a species-wide adoption of communist ideals. This is shown clearly in a phrase from a Barney & Friends song: “It’s not so tough to share your stuff with a friend” [14]. This line is similar to the proposed definition of communism by Karl Marx Frederick Engels in The Communist Manifesto: “In this sense, the theory of the Communists may be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property” [9]. This communist ideal of sharing everything has suspiciously been adopted by Pretendosaurus barneyi. This suggests a more intensive political goal involving spreading propaganda in order to destabilize modern western political entities and threaten the current world order threatened by the widespread proliferation of sharing and caring. The current reason for this political deviation is unknown and more research is encouraged.
5. Current Government Involvement
5.1 Barneys use in Iraq
It has been reported—on multiple occasions—that the American government uses Barneys in order to interrogate military prisoners in Iraq. Alongside this, an anonymous American soldier reported that: “In training, they forced me to listen to it for 45 minutes. I never want to go through that again” [7]. This shows that the government is investing taxpayer dollars into researching the psychological impacts of the Barney theme. Some researchers have even stated that Barney music is fatal: “…once anyone over the age of 2 hears Barney begin belting out that miserable anthem of his—’I wuv you, you wuv me…’—the human dies. It’s just that simple” [10]. The government clearly understands the powers the species possesses, yet they seem to be turning a systematic blind eye.
5.2 Control of government?
This leads to the hypothesis that Barney may be controlling the government itself. For example, in The State of Israel it has been reported by journalist Calev Ben-David that: “My 15-month-old daughter had been entranced, hypnotized, lobotomized, zombie-ized by a blobby, prehistoric platitude spouter” [8 Timestamp: 00:12:42]. Despite the fact that Barneys are clearly demonstrating harmful capabilities, the national government of Israel failed to provide proper protections. This may indicate a higher level of influence possessed by Barney than previously hypothesized. To continue with this example, Itzik Kol—an Israeli television producer—reached out to the research institute housing a Barney, Lyric Studios, in order to manage a new adaptation for Israeli television [8 Timestamp: 00:01:02–00:02:22]. This is highly suspicious; Barney was still being researched around this time, and there were reports of anomalous phenomena as mentioned previously (Ridgewell). Yet despite this, Lyric Studios went along with it anyways, negligently putting children at risk.
6. How this affects Lebron’s Legacy
6.1 Lebronian & Barnian Hegemony
The question may now arise: what are the implications for Lebron’s legacy? Lebron has never had any reported direct encounter with a Barney. Although this is the case, his predecessor, Charles Barkley, has. In fact, Chares Barkley assaulted a Barney the dinosaur in a vicious brawl on Saturday Night Live [4]. This shows clear tensions between the Barneyian Hegemony and the Lebronian–NBA consortium. However, Charles Barkley did later apologize to Barney about the incident (see fig. 2). Similarly, in 1997 a Barney had an altercation with The San Diego Chicken. This case however did not go well for the Barney; according to footage, The San Diego Chicken hurled the Barney off of a balcony tragically killing it [13]. This highlights a greater tension between Barney and sports as a whole.

7. The Conclusion
7.1 Suggestions for Future Research
The most critical inhibitor of Barney research is funding. More investments into departments—such as this one—are necessary in order to further research the greater implications of the species. Also, it has become extremely difficult to find a Barney compared to how it was in 1995 [16]. A dissection was apparently performed at Yellowstone National Park, but no diagrams or reports have been publicly released [15]. Due to this, a total of 15 days were spent on attempting to find a Barney in order to perform a dissection; however, it was not possible to locate one in the wild. Despite this setback, it is critically important to continue research into: why Barneys have adopted communist ideals, how Barneys extract dopamine from children, the muscular/organ anatomy of Barney, and why Lyric Studios—the aforementioned research institute that was housing Barney—decided to provide Barney to Itzik Kol. Alongside this, there has been a report of a possible species genetically similar to Barneys—the Philly Phanatic, further research into this is also highly encouraged [15].
7.2 Conclusion
In conclusion, Barney is one of the most iconic televised characters in the world. Regardless of the glaring concerns presented by scientists over the past 34 years, it has grown into a societal icon. While appearing innocent at a glance, Pretendosaurus barneyi employs anomalous powers, space-time continuum manipulation, Communist philosophies, and government-supported propaganda, all in order to get closer to children and use their dopamine as an energy source. Despite the species being a clear threat to the world order, Lebron remains definitively the GOAT. Further research into this field is something that will be necessary in order to understand the greater implications of Pretendosaurus barneyi on a universal and divine scale. Further research will also help humanity decipher the deep philosophical and scientific lens by which mankind has developed over millions of years. Along with that, the anomalous properties demonstrated by the species—if explained—will help us better understand the universe as a whole.
