You do some more googling

Nothing seems to come up on Stack Overflow. After becoming frustrated with the unorganized spaghetti code before you, you find some fancy libraries which will supposedly automate everything you need to get everything working. While you’re working on the code, you might as well bring everything up to speed with newer supported 2022 libraries.

What do you do?

1. Update all of the functionality to the new hot algorithm you found
2. Check out how all these data structures and matrices are populated
3. Search through the config file
